Why we started LHDC

Because a child's progress depends on everyone around them, and most of the time those people have never talked to each other.

A child with autism in Brevard might have a pediatrician in Melbourne, a speech therapist in Viera, a teacher in Cocoa, and an ABA team somewhere else. Each of them is good at their job. Almost none of them share a plan.

LHDC was built to be the clinic that fixes that. We treat ABA as one part of a child's care, not the whole of it. We reach out to the other professionals in your child's life, share data when you want us to, and build goals that make sense across settings. We are building relationships with pediatric practices, schools, early intervention programs, and community organizations across Brevard, and we are working toward research partnerships with universities so that what we do in the clinic is informed by the best evidence available.

We also believe families should understand everything we do. Every parent at LHDC can read their child's plan, see the data, and ask why.

Who you'll work with

Joshua Levins, BCBA

Founder and Lead Behavior Analyst

Josh is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with ten years of clinical experience in applied behavior analysis, working with children and families in Central Florida. He is a doctoral student in Exceptional Student Education at the University of Central Florida, where his research focuses on how families describe their children's early development and how that can get children help sooner.

He lives in Rockledge and started LHDC to build the kind of clinic he wanted for the families he has worked with: connected, transparent, and part of the community rather than apart from it.

Our commitments

  • Treatment is supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and you will know who that person is.
  • We use assent-based, trauma-informed practice. If your child is telling us no, we listen.
  • Goals are chosen with you, and they are written in language you can read.
  • We coordinate with your child's other providers when you give permission, and we never share information without it.
  • We will tell you if we are not the right fit, and help you find who is.
